On the Gift and private property

I was reading The Gift by Marcel Mauss.

In the ontological state of nature, a "gift" seems to have the capability of defining one's property. E.g I cannot give Lida's car to others as a gift since it's not my property.

Somehow the concept of private property is constructed for exchange. Capitalistic exchange. Tax. Gift.

The private VS the "common": interdisciplinary? And, could the Mao situation be the factual proof of communitarianism, in terms of ontologically speaking what is the state of nature alike?
